Inspirational

I'd heard of Janette Oke before and I'd seen one of her what some may deem "cheesy" movie adaptations but I'd never read any of her novels till a friend recommended A Gown of Spanish Lace. I enjoyed it and decided that, if nothing else, her novels are uplifting but not necessarily light-hearted.

Love Comes Softly, the story of Marty and of finding oneself completely in the hands of the Lord even when knowing nothing of Him. I love her journey of finding peace in the Savior, in developing a relationship with Him and an understanding that as difficult as life is there is hope and joy in simple acts of kindness as we wait on the Lord's timing.

Love's Enduring Promise, a continuation of Marty's story as her family grows. I loved getting more of the characters I got attached to in Love Comes Softly. The story line was less compelling but I definitely got a better sense of the communal setting and controversial issues of the time.
