Fiction

I know there are many different genres of fiction but for my convenience I'm slapping it all on this page, I'll try to tag stuff, or flag it, or "head" it or whatever.

Fantasy:
Od Magic, by Patricia A. McKillip
My review might be a little vague but the story is fresh. The plot is well rounded out with an assortment of characters all facing internal conflicts that parallel themes of fear in the book. What I like most about this story is that I feel like I'm gulping in deep breaths of fresh air just from reading the descriptive language. I also love that real power comes to mean self-knowledge as we all find our way through the maze of life. It means that once we realize we are lost, we are found and then can discover wonder. I wish I had discovered more (namely I wish I'd had more resolution instead of wrapping it up it my head).

Romance:
Rose Harbor in Bloom by Debbie Macomber
I'm new to Macomber but I appreciated that even though it was obvious that this is not the first in her series of tales about the inn that I could still jump in and enjoy the relationships. It was an easy, take your time, smell the roses kind of book with a very sweet message- it is never too late to love and love is never wasted- so keep moving forward, your heartbreaks often lead to growing a bigger heart.

Mystery:
The Twelve Clues of Christmas by Rhys Bowen
So clever! It's rare for me to be genuinely surprised so I love this author! She's not to graphic, clean but playful and her main character is someone I'd enjoy being friends with- and well, who doesn't love a good Darcy?!

Evans Above by Rhys Bowen
I enjoy mysteries that have at least a hint of romance because it makes the characters more relatable and gives you a reason to keep reading. I'm exciting about starting this new series and I'm even more excited that I've found an author who is clean, entertaining and not wholly predictable!
